Bespoke Scandinavian style kitchen with island and hidden utility

1. Project Overview

Today, we’re excited to share one of our projects from our Plywood Kitchens range, created for a client near Bristol. This is a stunning, sleek kitchen transformation focused on functionality and that signature Scandinavian style. The modern kitchen features bespoke cabinetry crafted from plywood, finished with natural oak veneer and white Fenix NTM laminate. We’ve kept clean lines and made clever use of space to perfectly suit the client’s preferences, enhancing the beauty and functionality of their home.

3. The Design Concept

  • Natural Elements & Simplicity: The kitchen features a combination of natural wood cabinetry paired with white accents. The wooden cabinets bring warmth to the otherwise minimalist white space, achieving a balanced and sophisticated look.
  • Maximizing Storage: Every detail has been meticulously planned, with clever storage solutions seamlessly integrated into the design. Drawers are organized to store cutlery, utensils, and kitchenware efficiently, as shown in the close-up images of the open drawers.
  • Integrated Appliances: The kitchen incorporates built-in modern appliances, including double ovens, a large refrigerator, and an induction cooktop embedded in the island. The black sink faucet and appliance details contrast with the wooden and white cabinetry, adding a touch of elegance.

4. Execution & Features

  • Island as a Central Hub: The kitchen island serves as both a workspace and a social area. Its generous surface provides plenty of room for meal prep and casual seating. The induction cooktop is centrally placed, offering easy access and a minimalist aesthetic.
  • Efficient Lighting: The pendant lighting above the island provides task lighting, while subtle under-cabinet lighting highlights the countertops, creating a welcoming ambiance.
  • High-End Finishes & Hardware: The attention to detail is evident in the finishing touches, such as the sleek black tapware, handle-less cabinets, and smooth matte surfaces.

5. Functional Storage Solutions

Drawer Organization: The kitchen drawers are custom-organized to maximize space and provide easy access to utensils, dishes, and kitchenware. Compartments keep items neatly separated.

6. Hidden Utility Entrance

A key feature of this kitchen design is the seamless integration of a hidden utility entrance located next to the fridge-freezer. The entrance, disguised as part of the cabinetry, maintains the clean and minimalist aesthetic of the kitchen while providing access to a functional utility space.

    • Seamless Cabinet Design: The utility entrance blends into the kitchen cabinetry, with the same white panels and wood accents as the rest of the design. This allows the kitchen to retain its sleek, uninterrupted look.
    • Concealed but Accessible: Positioned strategically next to the fridge-freezer, the entrance is easy to access without disrupting the flow of the kitchen. It provides a practical way to hide away any additional storage, appliances, or laundry facilities, keeping the main kitchen area free of clutter.
    • Functionality & Aesthetics: This hidden entrance is a prime example of how the kitchen balances form and function. While it keeps the utility space out of sight, it also ensures the kitchen remains fully functional, with quick access to essential secondary storage or utility features without interrupting the overall design.
