Send us your project details

You do not need a finished design before contacting us. A clear starting point is enough. Please include your postcode, room type, preferred timing, approximate budget range, photos, drawings, plans or inspiration images if available.

Read the process and prepare better for your consultation

The first stage does not need to be complicated. The aim is to understand the space, the level of ambition, the likely budget route and whether the project is suitable for our workshop.

Helpful information

  • Photos of the room or area
  • Approximate room dimensions
  • Any architect drawings, sketches or floor plans
  • Inspiration images or similar projects you like
  • Preferred materials, colours or finish direction

Project context

  • Postcode or project location
  • Preferred lead time or deadline
  • Approximate budget range
  • Supply only or installation preference
  • Any site restrictions we should know about

An approximate budget range is not about pushing you to spend more. It helps us avoid designing a solution that looks good on paper but is unrealistic for the project.

Step 1

Define the space, the purpose and the practical priorities

The first step is to understand what the furniture needs to achieve. For a kitchen, this may include storage, workflow, appliance positions, worktop space and the overall look of the room. For wardrobes or bedroom furniture, it may include hanging space, drawers, awkward alcoves, ceiling height, door type and daily access.

JS DECO works on bespoke kitchens, wardrobes, bedrooms and fitted furniture, so the early conversation is always shaped around the room rather than fixed cabinet sizes.

What you can do

Send photos, measurements, plans or inspiration. Even a simple sketch is enough to begin.

What we do

We identify the likely design route, material direction and whether the project is best suited to supply only or installation.

Step 2

Align the budget, material route and consultation method

Bespoke furniture can vary significantly in cost depending on the size of the project, material choice, internal specification, hardware, finish and installation requirements. This is why budget direction is important early in the process.

At this stage we normally discuss whether the project should move towards plywood, real wood veneer, painted finishes, FENIX, laminate, ceramic faced options or another suitable route. The goal is to match expectations with a specification that makes sense commercially and practically.

Consultation options

We can start by email, phone, video call, workshop visit or site visit, depending on the project stage and location.

Budget protection

Early budget direction helps prevent unnecessary design work on options that would later need to be removed.

Step 3

Move into the dedicated design and specification stage

Once the outline scope, budget direction and project route make sense, the dedicated design stage can begin. This is where we develop the layout, proportions, material specification, storage structure, visible details and production logic in a much more focused way.

For kitchen projects, this stage often connects closely with our dedicated kitchen design service, especially when appliance positions, working zones, material transitions and storage decisions need to be resolved before production.

When the 10% design deposit applies

Early guidance and budget direction can happen before commitment. The detailed design stage begins once the 10% design deposit is paid. This separates general enquiry support from proper project development, where time is spent on layout, specification, drawings, revisions and production preparation.

What you receive

A more developed route for layout, materials, specification, cost control and project planning.

Why it matters

It reduces guesswork and helps the project move towards a realistic production ready specification.

Step 4

Manufacture the furniture and control the quality before delivery

After design approval and production scheduling, the project moves into manufacture. At this stage, JS DECO prepares the furniture around the agreed drawings, dimensions, material specification and finish route.

Our work is not based on generic standard units. The furniture is made to measure for the project, which is why the decisions made during design and specification are so important. This is also where our workshop process, material knowledge and quality control directly affect the final result.

Workshop focus

Machining, assembly, finishing, checking, adjustment and preparation for delivery or installation.

Client updates

Where useful, we can share production updates, photos or arrange a workshop visit before final delivery.

Step 5

Choose delivery, supply only or JS DECO installation

Some clients choose JS DECO for supply and installation. Others prefer supply only, especially when they already have a builder, kitchen fitter, interior designer or project manager involved. Both routes can work, but they need different preparation.

For wardrobes and bedrooms, the same principle applies. You can review examples of our fitted furniture work through our bespoke wardrobes and bedrooms page.

Supply only

We manufacture and deliver the furniture, then coordinate key information with your chosen installer where required.

Supply and installation

Our team manages delivery and fitting, which gives better control over final alignment, adjustment and completion.

Why this process matters

Bespoke furniture gives much more control than standard fitted furniture, but that control only becomes valuable when the process is structured. Good early information helps us protect the budget, choose the right material route, avoid unnecessary changes and prepare the project properly before manufacture.

This is especially important for fully bespoke kitchens, plywood kitchen furniture, fitted wardrobes and projects where several trades, appliances, materials or site conditions need to be coordinated.

Common questions before starting

Do I need a finished design before contacting JS DECO?

No. A finished design is not necessary. Photos, rough dimensions, inspiration images and a simple description are enough to start the conversation. If you already have architect drawings, interior designer plans or a kitchen design from another source, you can send those as well.

Why do you ask about budget so early?

Because bespoke furniture can be designed in many different ways. The same room can be approached with different materials, hardware, finishes and installation routes. A realistic budget range helps us recommend a route that makes sense instead of developing a design that later needs to be stripped back.

What happens before the 10% design deposit?

Before the design deposit, we can review the project direction, discuss the likely scope, understand your priorities and give broad guidance. The detailed design stage starts once the project is realistic, the direction is agreed and the 10% design deposit is paid.

What does the design deposit cover?

The design deposit covers the dedicated design stage. This can include layout development, material and finish direction, storage planning, technical decisions, revisions and preparation towards a production ready specification. It separates general enquiry support from proper project development.

Can you work with architects, interior designers and studios?

Yes. JS DECO regularly works with private clients, architects, interior designers and professional studios. We can work from drawings, visual references, schedules, sketches and customer supplied files, then help turn the concept into furniture that can be manufactured and installed.

Can you provide supply only furniture?

Yes. Supply only can work well when the client already has a builder, fitter or project team. In that case, we manufacture and deliver the furniture, and where needed we can provide practical installation information to support your chosen fitter.

Can JS DECO install the furniture?

Yes. We can provide supply and installation where the project location, site conditions and schedule allow it. Installation is normally calculated separately because distance, access, complexity and the amount of site work can vary significantly.

How long does the process usually take?

This depends on the size and complexity of the project, the design stage, material availability, workshop schedule and site readiness. Bespoke projects should not be treated like instant off the shelf furniture. We will normally discuss lead time early so the design, production and installation route can be planned properly.

Can you make furniture based on photos or inspiration images?

Yes. Photos and inspiration images are useful at the beginning because they show the style, proportions and material direction you like. We do not simply copy an image. We use it as a reference point, then design furniture around your space, budget, materials and practical requirements.

Do you only make kitchens?

No. JS DECO makes bespoke kitchens, fitted wardrobes, bedroom furniture, alcove furniture, utility rooms, home office furniture and other made to measure fitted furniture. The process is adapted to the room type and level of detail required.
