High Gloss Ivory Handleless Fitted Kitchen Otley
Recently finished project of bespoke fitted kitchen furniture made in our workshop for a customer based in Otley, West Yorkshire. This is another high-end specification kitchen made in cooperation with Kastner Kitchens who was responsible for the design part of the project. The structural challenge this time was a medium size bungalow walk through kitchen with a large window on one wall and three doors located on the other walls. This configuration is uncommon and required a specific approach to use the potential of the space while keeping the layout practical and visually consistent. The furniture was manufactured to exact dimensions as a fully bespoke solution rather than adapting fixed module sizes. See how our luxury hand made bespoke kitchen furniture is built in practice.
Project overview
Problem: A walk through kitchen with three doors breaks up cabinet runs and can create fragmented elevations, reduced storage continuity and awkward workflow. The large window adds another constraint because it fixes a key wall section and influences where sink and preparation zones can sit.
Design decision: Keep the visual language modern but avoid a cold impression by combining reflective and satin materials, and by balancing wall unit proportions around the window wall and door openings.
Engineering solution: The layout was carefully planned to be visually attractive and functional, using reinforced cabinet construction, continuous plinth lines and a controlled mix of premium components and surfaces. Storage was concentrated into drawer banks and pull outs so that day-to-day access is horizontal and ergonomic rather than relying on deep shelving.
Result: A stable, high-spec handleless kitchen with improved storage access and a cohesive finish, engineered to work within a multi-access bungalow layout.
Design and planning
Problem: Three doors across the room create unavoidable interruptions, and a walk through route means clearance and access must be protected in multiple directions.
Design decision: Use symmetry and proportion control rather than chasing uninterrupted runs, and keep key functional zones organised so circulation does not cut through preparation areas.
Engineering solution: Wall cabinetry was specified as a combination of traditional opening doors and an extra-wide unit in the middle with bi-folded horizontal slabs. This helps maintain a strong elevation line even when adjacent walls are interrupted by doors. The worktop specification uses an aluminium profile with integrated LED illumination along the full working length, improving task lighting without introducing bulky fittings. This measured approach mirrors the process described in how bespoke furniture really works, where constraints are resolved through dimensioning and component planning rather than compromises in function.
Outcome: Balanced elevations, defined working zones and a kitchen that feels structured rather than broken up by access points.
The general idea behind the kitchen design
The idea standing behind this project was to provide a compromise between modern and aesthetic look but avoid the cold impression. To achieve that we implemented a number of different materials which together gave a satisfying result. The palette combines ultra high gloss ivory doors with satin Corian and brushed steel detailing, so light levels stay high without the space looking sterile.

Materials used to manufacture this particular modern style kitchen
Our customer provided this project with a strong budget which gave us the possibility to implement high standard components and functional internal solutions. The layout was planned to make the kitchen visually attractive and practical for daily use.
Problem: Walk through kitchens need stable cabinet construction and reliable mechanisms because openings and high traffic increase day-to-day stress on furniture.
Design decision: Use reinforced 18 mm carcasses, premium hardware, and a durable worktop system with integrated lighting.
Engineering solution:
- The carcasses are manufactured with 18 mm PVC edged Egger MFC board enforced with additional 70 mm long screws on the joints. This makes carcasses sturdy and stable.
- All mechanical elements are manufactured by Blum, market-leading kitchen components maker. Including soft close hinges, tip-on soft close drawers, pull out LeMans soft close corner basket, tall ladder space tower, internal wine rack, 200 mm wide additional pull out basket located next to the hob area and 600 mm wide pull out waste bin.
- Cabinet doors were made to measure in our workshop using ultra high gloss acrylic laminated slabs in ivory colour.
- 24 mm thick Corian worktop in Dune Prima satin finish placed on the aluminium profile which has been illuminated with LED lights along the full length of the working surface.
- The plinth is made of brushed steel laminate which matches the finish of the appliances and anodised aluminium profiles.
- Wall units were a combination of traditional opening doors and extra-wide unit in the middle with bi-folded horizontal slabs.
Result: Premium components and engineered furniture construction provide reliable movement, stable carcasses and improved long term durability for a high use kitchen.

Kitchen appliances
Problem: Integrated appliances need a coherent furniture system so that visual lines and access clearances remain consistent.
Design decision: Use a recognised integrated appliance brand and align finishes with brushed steel and aluminium detailing.
Engineering solution: Most of the appliances installed in this kitchen are provided by Neff, well-known on the integrated appliance market. The brushed steel laminate plinth and anodised aluminium profiles were selected to match appliance finishes for a consistent material language.
Outcome: Appliance integration supports the handleless design and maintains a calm modern elevation.

Otley kitchen project storage solutions
Problem: Storage solutions directly affect kitchen functionality and ergonomics. Walk through layouts also benefit from rapid access storage that keeps worktops clear.
Design decision: Focus storage into drawers and pull outs, and resolve the corner with a proper mechanical solution rather than dead space.
Engineering solution: This kitchen has 15 drawer boxes implemented in various locations providing comfortable access to stored content. Storage includes a LeMans type corner solution, a 600 mm wide pull out waste bin and a 200 mm wide chrome wire basket dedicated for cooking ingredients. The tall ladder space tower increases vertical pantry capacity and supports daily organisation.
Outcome: Improved accessibility, reduced bending and more structured zoning for cooking and preparation tasks.

Before and after analysis
Problem: A bungalow walk through kitchen with three doors typically reduces usable storage run length and can leave awkward voids and poor ergonomics.
Design decision: Use reinforced carcass construction, premium mechanisms and a lighting integrated worktop support system to increase function without adding visual clutter.
Engineering solution: 15 drawer boxes increased accessible storage volume. The LeMans corner basket converts an awkward corner into usable storage. 200 mm and 600 mm pull out units introduce structured zoning for ingredients and waste management. LED lighting integrated into the aluminium profile supports task clarity along the full length of the working surface.
Outcome: Higher storage accessibility, cleaner worktops and improved day-to-day workflow within a structurally interrupted room.
