Bespoke Plywood Kitchen Design in Wakefield, West Yorkshire
This project features a fully bespoke plywood kitchen built with the use of FENIX NTM Nero Ingo cabinetry, combined with natural oak veneer wall units from FINSA, white Corian worktops, and a brushed brass laminate splashback.
The aim was to create a kitchen that feels bold and contemporary while retaining warmth and longevity through carefully selected materials and balanced proportions. All cabinetry was designed and manufactured from scratch in our dedicated furniture studio workshop, tailored exactly to the client’s space.

Design concept
The concept is based on controlled contrast.
FENIX NTM Nero Ingo provides a deep, ultra-matt black base with a soft-touch surface and excellent resistance to fingerprints and everyday wear. To avoid the space feeling heavy, the upper cabinetry was finished in high-quality oak veneer, introducing natural texture and visual warmth.
The cooking zone is framed by a brushed brass laminate splashback, which reflects light subtly and adds a refined metallic accent without dominating the space. The overall layout prioritises clean horizontal lines and visual continuity across base units, tall units, and appliance housings.

Storage & functionality
Although visually minimal, the kitchen is highly functional.
- Deep drawer bases for organised cookware storage
- Full-height tall units integrating appliances and pantry storage
- Optimised corner cabinetry for easy access
- Continuous plinth lighting to visually lift the cabinetry and improve usability
- Appliances are integrated to maintain uninterrupted lines and consistent proportions across the entire run.

Lighting strategy
Lighting was designed as an integral part of the kitchen rather than an afterthought.
- Recessed ceiling spotlights for ambient lighting
- Integrated under-cabinet lighting for task areas
- Concealed plinth lighting to enhance depth and contrast
Light temperature was carefully selected to complement the black FENIX surface, oak veneer tones, and brass splashback without colour distortion.
Fully bespoke approach
Every cabinet in this kitchen was made specifically for this project:
- no standard module sizes
- no filler panels used to correct proportions
- no compromises around appliance dimensions
This level of control allows precise alignment, clean detailing, and a cohesive result that would be difficult to achieve with off-the-shelf systems.
