BLUM SERVO-DRIVE for Bespoke Kitchens

BLUM SERVO-DRIVE for Bespoke Kitchens
Blum SERVO-DRIVE in use: opening support is selected to suit the cabinet and its fittings.

Overview of the system

Blum SERVO-DRIVE is an electrical motion support system for kitchen furniture. A light touch can trigger opening, making it useful where you want handleless fronts or easier access while working in the kitchen.

To meet the requirements of customers interested in these solutions, we offer SERVO-DRIVE as part of our bespoke kitchen planning. It can be considered for our INFINITY LINE, FENIX NTM LINE and other bespoke kitchen furniture manufactured in our workshop, subject to the selected cabinet and hardware specification.

The name covers several applications. SERVO-DRIVE for drawers, SERVO-DRIVE for AVENTOS, SERVO-DRIVE uno and SERVO-DRIVE flex are not interchangeable kits. Start with the furniture you want to open, then select the appropriate components.

SERVO-DRIVE for drawers and pull-outs

For drawers, SERVO-DRIVE provides electrical opening assistance. Soft closing is a separate function provided by compatible BLUMOTION fittings; this should not be confused with electrically powered closing.

Blum offers SERVO-DRIVE with compatible drawer and runner systems, including LEGRABOX and TANDEMBOX. For wooden drawers, the runner specification matters as much as the drawer box itself. Check the exact system and component generation before deciding whether an existing drawer can be upgraded.

Where it can help: frequently used drawers, large fronts and handleless layouts. Try the opening action in person and consider where you naturally stand when preparing food. Electrical assistance is an option to select around your needs, rather than something every cupboard requires.

For a mechanical alternative, compatible LEGRABOX drawers can use TIP-ON BLUMOTION. Compare the opening feel, installation requirements and cost with the electrical option. See Blum’s LEGRABOX motion options.

SERVO-DRIVE for AVENTOS wall cabinets

With compatible AVENTOS lift systems, a touch opens the wall-cabinet front and a switch closes it. This differs from the opening-only assistance used for drawers. BLUMOTION provides the soft-close action.

Blum specifies different components for AVENTOS variants, including HF top, HS top, HL top and HK top. The lift mechanism, front dimensions and component generation must be matched; similar names do not mean that lever arms or drive units can be substituted.

AVENTOS can also be moved by hand. Blum describes a collision-prevention function that stops movement when the front encounters an obstruction. Correct installation and a clear opening area still matter. See Blum’s AVENTOS product details.

Blum SERVO-DRIVE for an integrated waste bin

SERVO-DRIVE uno is an individual opening-support solution that can be specified for a compatible waste-bin pull-out. This is particularly useful near a preparation or sink area, where your hands may be occupied.

Plan the bin position around the way you cook and clean. Check the available cabinet space, bin arrangement, pull-out hardware and access to the electrical components before choosing the installation.

SERVO-DRIVE flex for built-in appliances

SERVO-DRIVE flex is the appliance version. Blum lists applications for many integrated refrigerators, freezers, fridge-freezers and dishwashers. It provides an opening impulse so that a handleless appliance front can be reached and opened.

It is not the same system as the AVENTOS lift drive and should not be described as adding BLUMOTION to an appliance. Appliance compatibility and the installation position need checking for the selected model.

Blum describes lean protection to distinguish a brief touch from prolonged pressure. It also describes a self-closing function if a triggered door is not subsequently opened. These functions do not mean that every appliance door is powered through a complete opening-and-closing cycle. See Blum’s SERVO-DRIVE flex applications.

Planning, power supply and installation

Discuss the opening method before the kitchen is manufactured. The cabinet layout needs to accommodate the selected drive, power supply, cabling and access for maintenance, alongside the appliance or storage fittings.

Blum’s AVENTOS documentation specifies a power-supply housing that allows air circulation, together with distance bumpers providing a 2 mm trigger path. Follow the current instructions for the exact product: this is not a universal dimension to apply to every SERVO-DRIVE installation.

Ask how the selected system is operated manually and isolated for cleaning. For AVENTOS, Blum confirms manual opening and closing; check the instructions separately for the chosen drawer or appliance application.

For a refurbishment, an inspection is needed before promising a retrofit. Existing runners, cabinet dimensions, front weight and electrical access all affect the work required.

AVENTOS and voice control: what to confirm

If voice operation is important to your project, ask us to verify the exact control interface, compatible hardware and current UK availability before it is included in a quotation. Voice control should not be assumed to be a standard feature of a SERVO-DRIVE installation.

Specifying BLUM SERVO-DRIVE in your kitchen

Start with the places where opening assistance would make the biggest difference: a waste bin used throughout cooking, a wall cabinet that is awkward to reach, or an integrated appliance in a handleless elevation. We can then review those applications as part of the complete kitchen design.

You can browse the manufacturer’s website for the wider product range. Suitability and availability are confirmed for the selected JS DECO kitchen rather than assumed for every product shown.

For broader layout and storage ideas, read our kitchen furniture guide. To discuss a specification or arrange a workshop visit, tell us about your kitchen project.

Choose the opening system as part of the kitchen

Electrical opening is one part of a wider cabinet specification. Explore our bespoke kitchens to consider the layout, fronts and storage first, then discuss which hardware would suit the way you use them.
