This Park Hill Sheffield project shows a more installation led side of our work, where JS DECO was responsible for fitting a repeated kitchen scheme as part of the wider regeneration of the estate. The kitchens were supplied for the development and installed across multiple units, with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and the clean modern look expected from this type of urban refurbishment.
Although this was not a fully bespoke one off kitchen in the same way as our hand made bespoke kitchen furniture, the project still reflects the same attention to measured fit, finish quality, and practical installation detail. It also sits naturally alongside our broader explanation of how bespoke furniture really works, especially where room constraints, material choice, and precise fitting all influence the final result.

Park Hill kitchen installation project
In 2014 and 2015, JS DECO had the opportunity to take part in the regeneration of Park Hill Estate in Sheffield. The wider development was led by Urban Splash, known for bringing major historic and industrial buildings back into use, and our part of the work focused on the installation of 30 kitchens supplied by Accent Kitchens, part of the Arnold Laver Group.
This case study is therefore best understood as a commercial kitchen installation project with repeated layouts, rather than a single custom kitchen commission. That distinction matters, because the real challenge was not creating visual variety from one room to another, but delivering the same standard of fit, alignment, and finish consistently across multiple homes within a large scale refurbishment programme.

Modern industrial kitchen specification
The kitchens followed a restrained modern industrial style that suited the Park Hill setting well. White matt handleless fronts were paired with exposed plywood edge detail, aluminium profiles, and simple glass splashbacks, giving the rooms a clean architectural character without unnecessary decoration.
The material combination was practical as well as visual. The 36 mm plywood worktops introduced warmth and texture, while the smooth white door finish kept the overall composition light and compact. That balance between robust materials and minimal detailing is one of the reasons this scheme still connects well with current demand for plywood core kitchen furniture and other clean lined contemporary interiors.
The handleless format also helped reinforce the compact, built in appearance of the rooms. In a development such as this, where the wider interior language is led by structure, proportion, and honest materials, a kitchen with too much visual interruption would have felt out of place. Here, the simple front treatment supported the architecture rather than competing with it.

Functional layout choices
Despite the compact footprint, the layout included several practical details that improved everyday use. One of the more useful features was the drawer positioned above the oven, replacing the kind of fixed panel often used in standard layouts. This made better use of available space and placed everyday kitchen items within easier reach.
The worktop also wrapped the run of units in a way that strengthened both the visual line of the kitchen and its day to day practicality. A continuous surface makes food preparation easier, reduces awkward breaks, and contributes to a cleaner overall look. Tall larder style storage built into the available wall structure added further efficiency without overloading the room.
These are not extravagant features, but they are the kind of measured decisions that make a compact kitchen feel resolved rather than merely fitted in. That is also where a considered planning approach matters, particularly when the layout has to perform within tight architectural boundaries and repeated apartment formats.

Installation precision and site delivery
The most demanding part of this project was the installation itself. A key visual detail was the aluminium profile running between the worktop and the kitchen units. For it to work properly, the surrounding elements had to be fitted with a high level of consistency, otherwise the clean linear effect would be lost.
Flush joints between adjoining components were equally important. They contributed to the compact architectural character of the kitchens, but they also left little room for error during fitting. This was one of those projects where the final look depended less on decorative complexity and more on disciplined alignment, careful setting out, and steady installation standards across the entire programme.
That combination of repeated execution and close attention to detail is where commercial installation work becomes demanding in its own way. Every kitchen has to feel complete in itself, but the whole rollout also needs to remain visually consistent from unit to unit.
Project outcome
The finished Park Hill kitchens achieved exactly what this kind of refurbishment needed. They were visually clean, easy to maintain, and appropriate to the industrial character of the wider development, while still providing practical storage and a usable working layout for day to day living.
For JS DECO, the project remains a strong example of technically careful kitchen installation within a larger residential scheme. It demonstrates the value of precision, consistency, and material awareness, even when the work sits within a repeated commercial rollout rather than a single individually commissioned room.
