Made to measure sliding door wardrobe for Keepmoat show homes
This made-to-measure sliding door wardrobe was produced in cooperation with Hannah Williamson and installed in Keepmoat Homes show houses. The brief was to create a premium, modern feature that looks clean in staged interiors, runs quietly in daily use, and offers practical internal storage that stays easy to organise.
The wardrobe features three sliding doors in a combination of high gloss glass and brown mirror. The door system is built on an aluminium frame and runs on bearing rollers with a soft close mechanism, so the panels travel smoothly and close quietly without impact. Internally, the carcass is made from white chipboard with PVC edging, giving a clean finish and good resistance to everyday wear in high-use areas. For those who consider hinged wardrobes, we strongly recommend bespoke plywood wardrobes.
Project overview
Problem: Show home wardrobes must look premium at first glance, but they also need reliable door alignment and quiet operation under frequent use. Poor tracking, noisy closing and basic interiors quickly make a wardrobe feel “standard”.
Design decision: We used reflective high gloss glass and brown mirror panels to lift the room visually and make the space read brighter and larger.
Engineering solution: Aluminium framed doors with bearing rollers and soft close provide controlled end travel and consistent movement. The white PVC edged interior keeps the inside bright, clean and durable.
Outcome: A modern sliding wardrobe that looks strong in staged interiors and performs properly in real daily use.
Design and specification
A) Door system
Problem: Mirror and glass doors need stable support and accurate tracking, otherwise they can feel heavy and drift out of line.
Solution: Aluminium framed sliding doors running on bearing rollers with soft close, designed for smooth travel and quiet closing.
Finish: High gloss glass combined with brown mirror panels for a clean, reflective look suitable for show homes.
B) Internal carcass
Problem: Wardrobe interiors in staged rooms must stay bright and presentable even with frequent access.
Solution: White chipboard interior with PVC edging, selected for a clean look and good resistance at shelf fronts and divisions.
Flexibility: Internal layouts can be configured around hanging, shelves and drawer zones depending on room size and storage needs.
